Dear friends!

I address to you at this difficult time in our Motherland’s hour of need. You, participants of the International Roerich movement, understand the significance of culture and cultural undertaking. It is culture that can play now the important uniting role. Humanistic ideas of our family possessing high spiritual potential, acquire, as never before, a great significance. Aspiring to the most Beautiful and trying to bring into every day life those drop of spirituality to lighten our way to the future we should always remember the responsibility we bear. Those following the way of Beauty, Goodness and Perfection cannot allow themselves to be aggressive, evil or hostile to their neighbours. You should carry the light to help everyone to ascend the stairs of Ascent, to help overcome all the dark that stands on the way to the future of light we strive to attain.

The International Centre of Roerichs, established on my initiative and the Honourary President of which I am proud to be, has become the organization through which I can address to Roerich societies and collaborate with them.

I confirm the powers of Lyudmila Shaposhnikova - Vice-President and the Director of Nicholas Roerich Museum. I seek in all necessary cases to ask her advice. I am disturbed by attempts of some persons to call into question without any reason, her activities and to convey distrust in my decision. Lyudmila Vasilyevna stood proxy for me and I ask all of you to take this into account. Unwillingness to co-operate with her opinion resulted in unauthorized and untimely publication of such works as “Supermundane” and “Instruction to the Leader”. Such an unauthorized publishing activity disturbs me greatly. The timing of publication of a number of works my parents Yelena Ivanovna and Nikolai Konstantinovich Roerichs were connected with has not yet happened. You will be informed as the time approaches.

I should also note that Lyudmila Vasilyevna punctually carries out my instructions concerning the use and keeping of my parents’ archives. Any other proposals with regard to this are unacceptable for me as an heir and a presenter.

The establishment of the International Roerich Centre assists the revival of morals within peoples and the broad collaboration of nations as well as the collection and investigation of the rich heritage of the Roerich family.

I wish you every success in your noble and important task for the cultural work of our Motherland. Keep the banner of Teaching and our Teachers flying; do not allow it ever to be used with bad subjects in mind. Defend the International Roerich Centre, help its workers, allow nobody to hinder its activity. Let Light shine onto you all. Move forward fearlessly. Let your hearts be pure and intentions noble. Remember that the fate of your Motherland is in your own hands. May the Light ever be with you.
