Horizons of Cooperation

On the 22-23d of October, 2010 as a part of the VIII International scientific Forum, dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the Roerich Pact “Culture and peace – the sacred bastion of the mankind” was held a conference “The Roerich Pact and The Banner of Peace” in Delhi. It resulted in the effective discussion of ways for further cooperation.

Cultural Fund for Himalayan researches on behalf of its Chief Secretary, professor K.Variko (Delhi, India) and the Russian State scientific research university “The Khakassian scientific research institute of language, literature and history” on behalf of its director, professor V.N. Tuguzhekova (Abakan, Russia) on the October 23d signed the minutes for collaboration, which assumes: visits of the Heads for the experience exchange; exchange of publications and materials for main researches; organization of scientific conferences, festivals, seminars, realization of joint scientific projects; exchange of scientific workers and collectives in order to carry out scientific and cultural events. Was accepted the agreement about publication of the reports discussed during the Conference “The Roerich Pact and The Banner of Peace as a phenomenon of the World Culture” held in Delhi on the 22-23d of October, 2010 in the International magazine of the Cultural Fund for Himalayan researches (Delhi, India).

Director of the International Academy of Indian culture, professor Lokesh Chandra (Delhi, India), expressed his wish to issue an album devoted to the Roerich’s images and Indian cultural workers, fulfilled by the famous Ukraine sculptor Alexei Leonov. Exhibition of works and photographs of Alexei Leonov was shown in halls of the Russian center for science and culture in New-Delhi during the Forum. Lokesh Chandra spoke also about his desire to open a special cultural center in India, dedicated to the Roerichs, where they can hold different cultural events and exhibitions.

Professor A.V. Ivanov (Barnaul, Russia) proposed to Rector of The State University named after J. Neru (Delhi, India) an international exchange for students between the University of Delhi and the Altai agrarian University. These propose had been suggested by Rector of the University, professor R. Kumar.

Director of the Khakassian scientific research institute of language, literature and history, professor V.N. Tuguzhekova (Abakan, Russia) expressed her readiness to receive students and postgraduate students from The State University named after J. Neru (Delhi, India) for studying in her institute, and also invited scholars who are interested in history and culture of the Central Asia region.

Rector of the State University named after J. Nehru, professor R. Kumar expressed his willing for cooperation with Russian scientists on the base of the chair of history, aesthetics and art school. If this collaboration would run effectively, he probably opens the section for studying the heritage of the Roerich family in his university.

That scientific meeting in Shimla resulted with the agreement about cooperation between the Himachal-Pradesh state and the Altai region in purposes of preserving the unique environment and nature of the Altai and Indian Himalayas.
